SERMON STORIES: LAUGH & LEARN
#5: DO YOU KNOW WHO I AM?
A senator was flying from Los Angeles to Washington for an important meeting. His plane made a stopover in Chicago. He found out that his connecting flight to Washington had been cancelled.
He pushed his way through the crowd to the information desk, and demanded to be put on the next flight to Washington. The lady at the desk pointed to the long line of people behind him. “Sir,” she said, “Could you please stand in line like the rest of these people?”
The senator went red in the face. He slammed his fist on the counter and exploded, “Lady, do you know who I am?”
Without batting an eyelid, she pulled the mike towards her and announced, “Ladies and gentlemen, there is a man here who does not know who he is. If you can help him, please come to the information counter.”
People who believe in their self-importance and behave as if the world must serve them need to be put in their place.
“The greatest among you shall be your servant. Whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.” Matt 23.11-12 ESV
