#27 :I COULD NEVER TITHE
After his pastor preached on tithing, a deacon told him, “Pastor, I could never tithe. Considering what little I earn, and how large a family I have to feed, how could I tithe?”
A wealthy businessman overheard the conversation. He approached the deacon and offered, “God has blessed me, and I would like to help.”
He continued, “Why don’t you go ahead and tithe? At the end of the month, whatever you fall short, I will make up for it.”
The deacon was delighted. “Thank you, thank you,” he said, “I will tithe straightaway!”
The businessman pressed home his point. “When I told you I would provide for you, you believe me. God tells you the same thing in his Word, but you do not believe him.”
Is it easier to believe the word of man than the Word of God? It appears so. We walk by sight, by what we can see, rather than by faith, by what we cannot see.
“Bring the full tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. And thereby put me to the test, says the Lord of hosts, if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour down for you a blessing until there is no more need.” Malachi 3:10 ESV
