#16: LOST AND FOUND

A man was lost in a forest. It was getting dark. He was scared. He had never believed in God, having been an atheist all his life. He tried to find his way out on his own.

But when night came, and all became dark, he knew he needed divine help. Finally, in desperation, he fell on his knees and cried out to God for help.

Suddenly, a search party appeared. They had been looking for him for hours. Both he and they were relieved. He was rescued.

The next day, he was interviewed about his rescue. He said, “I am an atheist and I don’t believe in God. But in desperation, I cried out to God for help. But before God could answer, the search party found me.”

Here is an atheist who refused to acknowledge God even when his prayer was answered. The Bible tells us that we all have an inborn instinct for a divine being. We also have a tendency to suppress that instinct. “For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened.”Romans 1:21 ESV

“The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.” Psalm 14:1 ESV
