#24: MAKE YOUR OWN DUST

Sometime, not too far in the future, scientists challenge the need to believe in God. “What God can do, we can do too,” they claim.

God asks, “Can you create a human being?” They answer with pride and confidence, “Sure, we can.”

On an appointed day, the scientists appear before God. “You go first,” they say, “and we will do what you do.”

God bends to the ground, takes a handful of dust, and as he had done before, breathes into the dust. The dust becomes a human being.

The scientists proudly declare, “We will do the same “ One of them bends to the ground and takes a handful of dust.

“Stop!” God interrupts, “what are you doing?”

The scientist says, “I am making a human being, like you have done. I am taking dust to make a man.”

“Not so fast!” God says, “you make your own dust.”

God creates out of nothing. Man can only make from something. However advanced humankind progresses, we can never do what God does. We can imitate what He does, even replicate what He does, but never make something from nothing.

“Who is this that darkens counsel by words without knowledge?… Where were you when I laid the foundation of the earth? Tell me, if you have understanding.” Job 38:2, 4 ESV.
