SERMON STORIES: LAUGH & LEARN
#2: MIRACLE HOUSE
A wealthy lady died. An angel met her and said, “Let me take you to your miracle house.” As they walked along the streets of gold, she saw a beautiful cottage with a lovely garden in front. “Is that my miracle house?” she asked.
“No,” the angel said, “We are preparing that for your maid.” The lady got excited, “If my maid gets such a beautiful cottage, I can’t wait to see my miracle house.”
As they continued their walk, she saw a beautiful mansion, with a lovely gate in front. “Is that my miracle house?” she asked.
“No,” the angel said, “We are preparing that for your chauffeur.” The lady got more excited, “If my chauffeur gets such a beautiful mansion, I can’t wait to see my miracle house.”
Soon, they turned a corner, and the lady saw a shack, half built and hardly standing. “What’s that?” she asked.
“That’s your miracle house,” said the angel. “I don’t understand,” the lady said, “How could my maid get such a beautiful cottage and my chauffeur get such a beautiful mansion, and I get this?”
The angel explained, “You see, we build your house from the materials you send us. From what you sent us, it’s a miracle we could build this shack!”
What materials are we sending ahead of us? What are we keeping for ourselves on earth?
“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Matthew 6:19-21 ESV
