Wet Feet, Bare Feet

In Joshua 1, we see the people of Israel facing a transition. Moses their leaders for 40 years had died; Joshua had taken over. The years of wandering the wilderness had ended, they stood poised to enter the Promised Land. Like the Israelites in transition, Hermonites are also in transition. The years in CCK are coming to a close, as you stand poised to enter Henderson. What does God have to say to us? Does what he said to Joshua and the people of Israel still speak to us today? Yes, as we saw in our last message. Firstly, claiming the promised land is not easy. Not a gift to be collected without effort or price. But a prize to be fought for and won.
Much strength and courage needed. How do we find such strength and courage? We saw in Joshua 3: by heeding the word of the Lord. By faith and obedience.
The first obstacle to cross was River Jordan. So God told Joshua to tell priests to step into river and wet their feet. When they did so, an avalanche took place upstream and the waters stopped. The Israelites walked across.
The message of wet feet is that we must take step of faith and obey before God opens the way. Wet your feet and the way will open.
